What does 'founding member' mean?
Founding members are the first paying readers — the ones funding the buildout. The price is $19.99/month and stays $19.99/month for as long as you're a member. When the gated infrastructure (proper auth, app distribution, member portal) lands, you get it. When the price goes up for new members, yours doesn't.
What does the $19.99 actually pay for?
Research time, source verification, editing, hosting, and the apps in development. There are no investors, no ad networks, no sponsorship deals shaping coverage. Members are the entire revenue model.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from the Stripe customer portal — link in every receipt, or visit /members/manage/ if you've lost the email. No email gauntlets, no retention calls, no "are you sure?" three times.
How does access actually work today?
When you subscribe through Stripe, we email you the founding-member welcome — your access code plus your RiseStudioLabs discount code — within 24 hours of signup. Your access code unlocks the member entrance; from there you land in the Inner Circle portal. The founding cohort gets the welcome email sent by hand; auto-issuance via webhook lands once the cohort grows. The portal itself is founding-stage soft-gated, not hard-authenticated yet — server-verified per-account access ships before serious scaling, and you'll migrate automatically when it does.
What's the discount on RiseStudioLabs apps?
Founding members get an ongoing discount on every app in the RiseStudioLabs catalog. Your code arrives in the welcome email and applies at checkout on risestudiolabs.com.
Is the 'soft-gate' thing a problem?
It's an honest tradeoff. Building enterprise auth before the first paying member would be premature engineering. The soft-gate works for the founding-member group; real auth ships before the member count makes it a real risk. We'd rather tell you the truth about the stage than dress it up.
