This is the honest version of the terms. It's not written by a New York firm and it's not pretending to be. If you spot something that needs sharpening for a real legal reason, write us and we'll fix it.
What you can do
Read anything on the public site. Quote it with attribution. Link to it. Print pages for personal use. Share excerpts in conversation, classrooms, group chats, or your own writing. The work exists to be useful — using it the way useful things get used is fine.
What you can't do
- Republish whole pieces under a different byline, on a different domain, or behind your own paywall. The site is the source of record.
- Train a commercial model on the archive without asking. We will probably say yes if your project is non-extractive; we will say no if it isn't.
- Use the work to make medical, legal, or financial decisions without consulting a qualified practitioner. That's covered separately in the disclaimer and medical disclaimer.
- Send anonymous threats, harassment, or doxxing through any contact channel. We respond by reporting and blocking, not by debating it.
If you become a member
Membership billing is handled by Stripe at $19.99/month. Cancel any time from the customer portal Stripe links in your receipts. Your access code is yours — don't share it. Real per-member authentication (Stripe + Netlify Identity) replaces the current soft access system as the member count grows; you'll keep the same access either way. One-time tips on the support page are still processed by Buy Me a Coffee.
If you submit a tip or case file
Submissions stay yours. You give us a non-exclusive license to publish, edit, and excerpt — never to sell, never to claim authorship of, and never to share with third parties without your direct consent. We protect sources who need protection. See the submit page for the safer-channel guidance before you send anything sensitive.
Content authority
Everything published on 1WISDOM is the editorial opinion of the editors, sourced as openly as the topic allows. We label claim strength where it matters (see How We Work). We correct mistakes when we find them. Updates carry a date stamp at the top.
External links
We link out to primary sources, archives, and other publications. We don't control those destinations and we're not liable for what they publish. We open external links in new tabs and use rel="noopener noreferrer" so the destination can't read back into the 1WISDOM session.
Termination
We reserve the right to revoke access to the gated areas for abuse — chargebacks not initiated through the cancel flow, credential sharing, harassment of editors or other members. Refunds for the current month if you cancel; no refund for prior months consumed.
Jurisdiction
1WISDOM is operated from the United States. Disputes default to the operator's local jurisdiction. We don't include arbitration clauses. We'd rather just resolve it.
Changes to these terms
Material changes carry a dated note at the top of this page. Trivial copy edits don't. If a change affects what members are paying for, members get an email.
